VLC Media Player Overview

VideoLAN features a cross-platform multimedia player, VLC Media, which you can use to read the stream from the network or display video read locally on the computer under all GNU/Linux flavors, all BSD flavors, Windows, Mac OS X, BeOS, Solaris, QNX, Familiar Linux.

VideoLAN is free software and is released under the GNU General Public License. It started as a student project but is now a worldwide project with developers from 20 countries.
